Dodgers seeking Ramirez…still!

February 26, 2009 by Doug · Leave a Comment

After the way Manny Ramirez acted in his last days in Boston, you wonder why anyone would offer him a contract. I mean I vividly remember watching the Sox and Manny was sitting in the dugout holding a sign “I’m going to Green Bay for Brett Favre straight up!”. What kind of behavior is that for a multi-million dollar investment? manny-green-bay believe me folks…that was just the tip of the iceberg for the way Manny acted throughout his career in Boston.

So with that said, the desperate Los Angeles Dodgers are still the ONLY MLB team pursuing Manny and made a 4th bid for Manny Ramírez yesterday, this time offering the slugger a $25 million, one-year contract with a $20 million player option for 2010.

The player option came at the request of Ramírez’s agent, Scott Boras, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations who requested anonymity because talks are ongoing.

The latest proposal is similar in dollars to Los Angeles’s first offer to the free agent left fielder this offseason, a $45 million, two-year deal with a buyout or a club option that was ignored by Boras and later withdrawn by the team.

This offer, however, gives Ramírez a chance to determine his fate in 2010. He could stay with the Dodgers for a $20 million salary or decline the option and become a free agent again.

Dodgers spokesman Josh Rawitch confirmed that general manager Ned Colletti, owner Frank McCourt, and Boras met in Los Angeles and an offer was made, but Rawitch declined to provide further details.

Ramírez rejected a one-year, $25 million proposal from Los Angeles three weeks ago. The team also offered him salary arbitration in December, but Ramírez turned that down, too.

You should grab Dodgers Tickets now, because if Manny does sign, you know good Dodger tickets will be much harder to come by!

Anaheim Ducks Freeze Ticket Prices…

February 25, 2009 by Doug · Leave a Comment

In an effort to keep games affordable in an economic crisis, the Ducks announced Monday a freeze in ticket prices for the 2009-2010 season. Is this good news for fans? We do hope so.

Season and single-game tickets, as well as half-season, group seats and mini-plans will remain the same, according to the club.

Season tickets for the 2009-10 season start at $10.50, while individual tickets begin at $18.50. There is a $1.50 arena facility fee per ticket.

If the Ducks make the playoffs this season, ticket prices for the first round will remain the same as last season. Prices for beyond the first round have not been decided.

The Ducks, like other pro teams, are reaching out to a fan base that is dealing with less discretionary income.

Earlier this month the Los Angeles Kings also announced a freeze on season-ticket prices for next season.

The freeze comes after two consecutive years of increases.

The Ducks raised prices for this season by an average of 6.6 percent for season seats and 7.2 percent for single-game seats. Prices for the 2007-08 season rose by an average of 7.9 percent for season seats and 1.1 percent on individual seats. That had been the first such increase in three years.

The club capped season ticket sales at 15,000 in August, but support has since waned slightly.

The Ducks saw their 78-game sellout streak snapped on Oct.15. Only 12 of their 31 home games have sold out, although 10 other home games have sold at least 16,800 tickets. Capacity at Honda Center is 17,174.

We here at Citrustickets.com have seen a significant drop off in Ducks Tickets since January 2009, even when the Ducks’ average ticket price of $43.50 is below the NHL average of $49.66, according to Team Marketing Report.

Watch Kobe Bryant Live…

February 23, 2009 by Doug · Leave a Comment

After what Kobe Bryant just achieved in yesterday’s lakers win over the Timberwolves, how can you not want to watch this guy play live?

Without question, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most successful NBA franchises of all-time. They are second in NBA Championship titles (only 3 behind the Boston Celtics) and the best all-time winning percentage for an NBA team. With those types of results there had to be some talented players over the years! There were big name stars such as; Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and Elgin Baylor to name a few. And out of all of these stars, our man Kobe Bryant, at the age of 30, just moved past Elgin Baylor to take the number 3 spot alone on the all-time lakers scoring list. At this pace, he could catch the leader Jerry West next year!

Now know all that, don’t you think it is worth watching Kobe Bryant live at a Lakers game? I have watched him myself life over the past few months and every night he does something that seems nearly impossible. Because of Kobe and the success of the Lakers, Lakers ticket prices have been skyrocketing. I suggest that if you do not want to pay an arm and a leg to watch a lakers game, you Buy LA Lakers Tickets today, before prices are unreachable.
